Pack 97 Camp LEX Overnight on the USS Lexington

Pack 97 is spending the night aboard a real WWII aircraft carrier! The USS Lexington, known as “The Blue Ghost”, is docked in Corpus Christi and hosts an overnight adventure program for youth groups. Scouts will eat in the chow line, explore the ship on a scavenger hunt, watch a 3D film, participate in a patriotic flag ceremony, hear ghost stories, and sleep in the same bunks the sailors used. Everyone goes home with a Camp LEX patch.

When: Saturday, October 3, 2026. Arrive at 12:00 PM. We wrap up Sunday morning by 9:30 AM.

Where: USS Lexington Museum, 2914 N. Shoreline Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX

Cost: $85 per person (scouts and adults). Includes dinner, breakfast, museum admission, and all program activities.

RSVP Deadline: Friday, July 31, 2026

Important Things to Know

Age requirement: Participants must be at least 7 years old. This is a firm rule from the Lexington – no exceptions. Siblings 7 and older are welcome. [We are checking whether younger siblings can visit the museum on a separate day pass during the afternoon – stay tuned.]

Food allergies: If your scout has food allergies, you must bring your own food and notify us before the trip. The ship’s caterer can provide vegetarian or gluten-free substitutions for a $5 upcharge if requested in advance.

It’s a real warship, not a hotel: Expect steep ladders (not stairs), narrow passageways, and steel everything. Everyone carries their own gear up the pier and through the ship. Rolling suitcases and heavy bags are a bad idea – pack light in a soft bag. Closed-toe shoes are required at all times.

No cell service: There’s little to no cell signal inside the ship, no public WiFi, and very few outlets. Embrace the offline adventure.

What to bring: Sleeping bag, pillow, flashlight, water bottle, toiletries, towel, closed-toe shoes, and quarters for the game room. Pack a change of clothes and sleeping attire. Travel light.
