Uniforms

The Cub Scout uniforms are essential elements of the program. They help Scouts develop a sense of belonging and pride in their achievements.

You may hear some Scouters talk about “class A” and “class B” uniforms. The official names for these are the field uniform (the shirt with patches) and the activity uniform (the matching T-shirt). The field uniform is what most people recognize as the Cub Scout uniform and includes all rank insignia. The activity uniform is an optional, informal shirt that can be worn for den outings, campouts, and other events.

The Scouting America uniform overview has pictures of the various field uniforms. The national Scout Shop website has details on placement of the different patches.

Uniforms can be purchased locally at the Steve Matthews Scout Shop. They often run sales on uniform parts in September.

Items marked with (*) are reused for several years. We recommend buying the largest size that your child can tolerate.

IMPORTANT! Pack 97 supplies every member with a neckerchief, neckerchief slide, and handbook. Do not purchase these items unless you have made special arrangements with your den leader.
